Some Minor Last-Minute Tweaks To Kobi Marimi’s “Home”. Will They Help His Eurovision Chances?

Kobi Maimi – “Home” (Eurovision Version)

Just days before Kobi Marimi takes the stage at Eurovision 2019, the official Israeli entry has been tweaked – but just a little.

Kobi’s song “Home” got a minor face lift this week, slightly re-arranged to create a more contemporary sound. A guitar can now be heard throughout the song, in addition to a subtle beat that was not there before.

Changes like these are not uncommon. In fact, Israel almost always tweaks its songs just before showtime.

I would think these changes are designed to create a more contemporary – and less “operatic” – sound to the song. But with Israel currently languishing at #26 in the Eurovision betting odds, it may be too little, too late.

In any event, the re-tooled song was introduced to the world accompanied by a new YouTube video, documenting Kobi Marimi’s exciting journey over the past few months. He appears extremely humbled to be Israel’s representative to the Eurovision, and comes across as a genuinely nice guy.

What do you think of the changes to the song? Does Israel have a shot?
