That Time Eden Alene Made Us Cry on Yom Ha’atzmaut

Eden Alene is being heralded as an Israeli superstar after winning this year’s HaKochav Haba (The Next Star). The Israeli entertainment world couldn’t be more pleased about Eden’s victory. After all, she’s a beautiful girl with a touching story, and wow – can she sing! By all accounts, she will be a great representative for Israel in Eurovision 2020.

Throughout the competition, Eden won over the hearts of judges and viewers alike with her soulful interpretations of English songs, for the most part. That’s why we were particularly excited to discover this clip of Eden singing in Hebrew from Yom Ha’atzmaut 2018, celebrating Israel’s 70th birthday.

During the annual state ceremony from Mt. Herzl, newly-crowned “X-Factor” winner Eden moved the country to tears with a stunning rendition of Arkadi Duchin’s “Mi Ohev Otach Yoter Mimeni” (Who Loves You More Than I). Her gorgeous vocals accompanied the sight of 300 drones lighting up the night sky, forming recognizable Israeli symbols like the Jerusalem skyline and the Star of David.
