New Israeli Music Friday: 1.11.19

A roundup of five new Israeli songs released this week.

Some new Israeli songs we think you should know about. Be sure to listen for more brand new music on this week’s Israel Hour Radio podcast. Shabbat shalom from MyIsraeliMusic.com!

1. HaUltras & Gazoz – Hee Lo Teda

Remember the 1979 “Gazoz” hit, “Hee Lo Teda”? Well, it’s back on the air, though it sounds very different from the way you remember it. Rap duo “HaUltras” has brought the song back to life with new rap lyrics to appeal to Millennials, and a nostalgic chorus for all to enjoy. The only question is, does Danny Sanderson approve?

2. Moshe Peretz – Matai?

Here’s a fun new song by Moshe Peretz that’s sure to become a hit, along with a music video that makes you want to get up and dance. The song is a nice change of pace from Moshe’s typical style, and the video stars an unknown woman (Simor Daniel) who just can’t help but dance her way through the day. Because everyone dances in crosswalks, don’t they?

3. Rotem Cohen – BaLeilot

Since we’ve just announced Rotem Cohen’s USA tour with stops in Chicago, Miami, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, it’s probably a good time to get to know his music. Good thing, then, that he released this new song just in time. Get to know Rotem Cohen, then check him out live when he comes to your neighborhood!

4. Eyal Golan – Od Shabbat Shel Kaduregel

For some in Israel, Shabbat is a day for prayer, study, and rest. For others, it’s all about soccer. Eyal Golan appears to be in the later camp, as he covers this classic song by Hertzel Kabilio. If you missed it on our latest podcast episode, check out this fun new song now.

5. Koolulam – MeAlai D’mama

For about a week this past fall, the communities of Southern Israel were bombarded with rockets fired from Gaza. Morale was low among the residents of the area, and it was time for Koolulam to get involved. Along with 3,500 concerned Israelis, they came to the area to bring song, light and hope to the residents of the south. As usual, the result – a rendition of “Me’alai D’mama” by Ahuva Ozeri and Shai Tzabari – was a gorgeous celebration of music and camaraderie.
