Kelly Clarkson Sings “I Dare You” in Six Languages – Including an All-Hebrew Duet with Maya Buskila

International superstar Kelly Clarkson stunned the world by releasing her new song “I Dare You” in six languages. Our favorite, obviously, is a nearly-flawless Hebrew version accompanied by Israeli singer Maya Buskila.

The project was in the works for more than a year, USA Today reports. Its hopeful lyrics, however, take on a whole new meaning during the Coronavirus crisis.

“In the middle of a pandemic,” USA Today writes, “Kelly Clarkson dares you to love, to care and to let others know what — and who — you value most….

“In addition to English, ‘I Dare You’ was recorded in five languages, with duet partners that include Zaz (French), Faouzia (Arabic), Blas Cantó (Spanish), Glasperlenspiel (German) and Maya Buskila (Hebrew).” Clarkson debuted the song on her television talk show on Thursday, showing her singing the song in all six languages alongside her international partners.

“I Dare You” in Hebrew – “Come, Let’s See You Love”

The Hebrew version, entitled “Bo Nir’eh” (Let’s See), features Clarkson singing Hebrew lyrics better, honest;y, than most American Jews. Her pronunciation is nearly spot-on…and she must have worked very hard to get everything just right.

Ynet offered a bit more behind-the-scenes information:

“It started when Kelly’s people called my agent,” Buskila says. “They gave me several options after she looked at my YouTube page and heard my song. It’s a dream come true.”

Buskila said that the interaction between the two was mainly conducted via the WhatsApp messaging application and that she had to work a lot to help Clarkson learn to say the words in Hebrew.

This collaboration is quite an honor for the State of Israel. It’s remarkable to hear Israel’s very own Maya Buskila singing alongside Kelly Clarkson – an American musical superstar. It’s even more amazing to hear Kelly Clarkson singing in Hebrew!
