Static & Ben-El in “Variety”

Static and Ben-El’s American music career seems to be progressing nicely. On Wednesday, the duo got a very nice write up in the US entertainment magazine, Variety. They spoke about their success in Israel, and how they plan to replicate it in America. In a nutshell, they’re banking on the English version of “Tudu Bom” to have the same impact in the US as it did in Israel. As rapper Static put it, “‘Tudo Bom’ has a new soul now. It’s something completely different with a J. Balvin feature. And I think we’re excited for our new baby.”

New Song for Hadag Nahash

Hip hop group Hadag Nachash released a new song this week, a collaboration with singer Tzlil Danin called “Ana Anachnu”, where are we? Take a listen.

The band says the song is about relationships and love, even when it’s hard. I don’t hear any rap in this song, and it’s nice to hear members of Hadag Nachash actually singing. We’ll be sure to debut the full song on the next edition of the Israel Hour Radio podcast.

Top Israeli Songs of the Week

And finally, our own weekly look at the Israeli music charts came out yesterday, and it’s clear that there are two songs that EVERYONE is listening to this week.

The first is Bassa Sababa by Netta Barzilay, the long-awaited follow up to her Eurovision-winning “Toy”. The song was #1 on Galgalatz radio, where it’s been for several weeks now. #1 on radio stations nationwide, however, is the mega-hit “Yassu”.

The “dream team” collaboration between Static and Ben-El, Eden Ben Zaken and Stephane Legar continues to take Israel by storm, and doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon.

That’s your Israeli music news for today! I’m Josh Shron, Al Tafsiku Lashir.
